mysore attacks

sir,
The recent shootout in mysore clearly indicates the network of the terrorist
organization in the south.they are trying to attack the economy of India
which is shifting to the south .i think it is better for India to create a
anti terror unit in the central govt which has certain powers ,I dont think
the local police men had to do the job everytime as they did in th mysore
Thats asking too much of them and they also tend to be more corrupt
If we had an independent anti terror unit then we can get them to be more
efficient in their as they specifically target terrorists and they can have
units in every state to help them co-ordinate
Cause this is because I dont feel secure when the same police men who take
bribe for nothing will protect me in case of a terrorist attack.

thank you

icc vs bcci

hi,
first i would like to mention certain issues .i hope that bcci doesnt sign
the mpa its a trap by the icc to make india pay them 1.5 billion dollars
which is the amount india has to pay inorder to play international matches
which is ridiculous why should we pay such a large amount just to play
.clearly icc is trying to squeeze india as much as it could ,i think that
the other countries too would agree to mpa cause what is their problem its
india which is funding the icc the truth is 80% of funding of the icc comes
from bcci even the money of the respective boards is only when india plays
in their countries .i think the situation can be best said in this lalit
modi interview

in the recent icc champions trophy we dont even have the media accredition
rights even the side screen in the stadiums belongs to the icc whats going
on here i think lalit modi has stated it clearly that its like east india
company tying our hands and asking us money to pay for what is ours .this is
ridiculous for once can india show some intelligence and come out of this
situation profitably .when will india ever learn to be more assertive in the
international arena lets take the bagihar dam issue we have stopped the
construction of this dam because of the pakistans objection whereas do u
guys know that australia is pumping oil from the coast of east timor but
they dont object cause they are a new country with no strong government this
is the hypocrisy of the west ,some of them suffer from the colonial hangover
still expecting some freebies fron the asian countries
its time we fight back all the other asian countries wont support us cause
they are just jealous and they dont have much to lose from the mpa its like
india has to pay for getting our own salary ,this is stupid .

i hope you all would know that the best for any country economically is to
discard the international matches and concentrate on the domestic ones.look
at the ameriacn sports allof them areonly in the nba even when usa lost to
greece(did u know that greece plays basketball) in the world championships
.look at football the english premier league has 100 times more money than
the brazilian league

infact the english market their league in other asian countries as well ,
its time we should stand up to this hypocrisy and watch our backs first
im a cricket fan but i think that i can stop watching some international
matches as well
if we dont get a fair deal we dont need the icc the icc needs us its time we
pulled our weight in this world

let me give you another exmple india got a chance to host the 2010
commonwealth games why after so longer time did we get the chance malaysia
and jamaica got it before us come on does jamaica deserve a chance before us
it doesnt stop with this ,after a few weeks of this announcement there was
some english official who came to delhi to campaign for 2012 london and got
indias endorsement for london by saying that india should repay england
,what india should repay england for what giving india a chance when all
other countries had theirs we are like children in this international
diplomacy its like stealing candy from the babies

come on india !!! lets make sure that we get it right atleast this whoever
you are lets support lalit modi he is an intelligent fella and he is
certainly one who could negotiate ,we should encourage him i can wait to see
what will happen

in the news

why is the indian govt wasting time giving evidence to the pakistan govt .i dont know ,does the russian or the us govt gave evidence to each other to prove the intelligence agencies involvement .this is ridiculous how can i country which has dawood ibrahim and the one who got released for the indian airlines hijacking agree to any such evidence.the sight of the that person being paraded in karachi publicly as a hero is still in my eyes ,how can the indian government and the media be so stupid in their understanding of the situation.

fellow friends lets go to the news right away
indian women seem to be doing a better job than their male counterparts in the hockey world cup india should have won today if no for the bias of the tv umpire who disallowed a goal citing dangerous play.i have seen far more dangerous play than that which have been allowed as goals in the mens world cup or for that matter in this world cup as well , india deserved to win ,our womens team have shown consideravle improvement and definitely deserve a place in the top 8 of the world ,especially suronder kaur who has already become one of the leading scorers of the world cup as always our indian media hasnt focussed on this event ,dont you think that its time to demand correct decisions from the umpires we alyas seemed to be at the loggerheads with the governing bodies of any sport for more information use this link

south asian games 2006

the recent south asian games is probably the worst for netizens cause there is no decent websiteregarding the event. the site is scrappy to say the least and it takes atleast 3 days for them to update it . this is bad!!! however india is doing well as always in the games but i think that india shouldnt be participating in such useless games as india has sent their under 20 sides for the hockey and football events.even the shooters arent participating .saying all that i think india can do better in sports like boxing and cycling .though it seems to get some international exposure foe new talent but i hardlythink it as a platform for the future cause there is a wide gap between the olympics and this event .the aim of this game is promote co-operation among the south asian countries eventhough i have to say that its going to take more than a games event to promote co-operation and peace

"hairy issue"

the time has probably come for us to look at the issue from the point of race.the most important point that came out from the hair letter, is that the 500,00 $ compensation asked by hair.the yearly salary for an umpire is about 110,000 $(or is it pounds) . if you convert it into rupees it is 88 lakhs (wow) per annum.probably it is more profitable to become an umpire rather than a player , given the fact that are not even one indian umpire in the elite panel. time for some thought

cricket in westindies

when will our guys ever learn to win outside the sub continent even good form and a record of consecutive wins could'nt foce them to win. in my personal opinion irfan pathan was the big disappointment not to mention sehwag and dhoni it time we seriously think about other alternative , now we have to wait for the tests in which we have a pathetic record

medha patkar

i simply cant understand wats going on with this woman she goes on hunger strike for a couple of thousands displaced due to the dam rather than forgetting about the million who will get benefitted by the adequate water supply and also prevent floods , this is some medievalistic thinking where people have no knowledge about dams and their importance , its only because of people like these that india is still back ward .we have to set our priorities right.

tamil nadu elections

iam a first time voter i simply cant wait to exercise my right to vote . iam
in bit of confusion about my vote iam certainly not falling for any of the
sops announced by the parties but saying al that i think that there is not
much differencebetween the 2 pparties except for the fact that the dmk is
more of a family party than the other , it would be interesting to see
whether vijaykanth can get to tthe hearts of tamils if he performs well in
this election then i will perhaps think about him in the future anyways hope
that we have a peaceful election

wto talks

sit,
indias growing importance in the world can be seen in the forthcoming wto talks.
there are certain issues which the developing countries are going to put forward

1. first and foremost is the FARM SUBSIDIES there shouldnt be any agreement unless and until the developed countries reduce their farm subsides (which are inthe billions)

2.from indias pont of view there is the issue of the information trade bpo is also considered as a form of trade where it is mandatory to allow free transfer of knowledge and in formation which would protect us from any local law ,i heard that this would also allow our people to get easy access to the educational institutions as this is also considered as a form of trade is that true

what are your thoughts about the above issues
do u think that this is a platform for india to form a meaningful alliance (as a leader) in the world
globalisation has helped india but india should make sure the farm subsidies issue is resolved quickly our food imports have increased by 300% when we had a bumper crop last year , importing food means importing unemployment do u think this hong kong round would find a solution
thank you

questions unanswered????

sir,
this is in relation with the indian economy, since you have an in interest in the economy probably you could answer them
1.being an economics student,i have a question how in the world has the inflation of our country come down to 3.8%. it used to hover around 8% in july 2004, especially when the oil prices are reaching record levels ,the prices of metals are going up and the prices of all raw materials are going up,including real estate etc.dont you think it defies logic, when i asked my dad he told me that it probably only includes essential commodities.even the bank rates havent  increased much, probably the govt is artificially keeping the prices low through subsidies or price regulation.dont you think it is harmful to the govt who is already running on a huge fiscal deficit,is the govt's policy right.

2.we all thought that privatising sick units will yield benefit but look at the recent power crisis in delhi, reliance is responsible for the power distribution there.when the rates were hiked the city dwellers were up in arms, their argument is "either we dont get regular supply or we get costly power". i support the case of the urban people cause its them who pay the bills whereas almost 60% of the power is lost in rural areas (theft or nonpayment).you cant blame reliance as well cause how are they going to fill up this deficit of 60%.when the pressure increased the govt has again taken the easy way out - subsidies (wat about the fiscal situation)

3.i could even digest this, if the free power is used for productive activities in rural areas.most of this free power is used for watching television, movies etc.(the television households has increased three fold in the last decade)in some villages 80% of homes dont have proper drainage facilities but they have television.

4.the present leftist(or left leaning)govt has introduced many schemes for the rural areas ,will they ever work cause there are many schemes introduced in india for rural development , have they ever worked, there are many banks in india for providing cheap credit to farmers like  NABARD,RRB,COOPERATIVE BANK etc.they are usually unable to recover the loans,

5.probably we should follow what is followed in china cooperative farming , where the farm belongs to the govt and the produce belongs to the workers.in this way we can prevent exploitation of the workers by the village mahajans etc.india has the lowest per acre productivity in the world.thats the reason  why the govt is giving cheap credit to the farmers so that they can get modern technology to increase productivity, but this policy has failed

6.historically, the policies of the govt look perfect on paper but it usually fails on implementation,
india lives in its villages,60% of the population is below 30 years,a consierable proportion of them live in rural areas ,the only way the ovt is going to find jobs for them is in the small scale and medium scale sectors(cottage industries). these activities are labour intensive and thus provides a lot of employment opportunities.

7.what are the causes for the failure of the rural policies ,inspite of careful planning.some say its roots lay in the existence of the caste system in india, its exploiting nature, making it impossible for the schemes to reach the poor people,in such a case dont you think that communism(i will probaly regret telling this) is the best way to move forward in agriculture like the mthod of cooperative farming in china.

8.finally,what are your thoughts on above points and do u thin it requires a change of policy or it is a gradual process of changing the mentality of the people. or in short the problem lies with the govt or with the people???

balaji

india us relations

sir,
sorry to have not written for a long time.this mail deals with the changing phase of india- us relations.

in the recent visit to the us , prime minister manmohan singh said that india and us has entered into the period of co-operation . but some quesions remain. i would like to point out some below

1. we have a signed the nuclear deal with united states , in return we will allow a team of US inspectors to our nuclear sites. do u think that it is unwarranted .does our thirst of electricity is so large that we should accept to this deal, besides lets not forget that us has not recognised india as a nuclear power state.we wont get all the benefits like other members of the nuclear club. if so, then why is there so much euphoria about this deal?

2.the defence agreement deal with the united states, it looks like india has agreed to buy american weapons , even this deal is uncalled for. our armed forces are equipped with russian weapons for a long time.we have repair and maintenance workshops for these russian weapons, even if we want to upgrade our forces them it is better to buy the upgraded versions of sukhoi and migs rather than buying F-16S which requires us to build an entire new system of maintenance and repair workshops etc etc ,(not to mention the training of the mechanics).this is too costly for us .atleast , i could understand this deal if india has succeeded in stopping the defense sales to pakistan but US is selling weapons to pakistan,it doesnt seem to deviate from its traditional tilt towards pakistan.so, again why there is so much euphoria over this deal.besides our present weapons is enough to refrain pakistan from making any misadventure.

3.the next is the india - iran pipeline , if india says that this issue is immune to any outside influence, then how come this deal was in the negotiation stage for 6 years and even after the deal is signed with iran the work hasnt started . is the US influence stopping this to go ahead.

on one hand india seem to say that india is not selling out but it seems to be.

the confusing part is that india doesnt seem to gain much from all these deals

The foreign investment from US to india is a miniscule proportion of the investment going to china

all this when china supposed to be the enemy of the US and india is supposed to be the natural ally (as said by colin powell when he visited india refering to the realtionship between the worlds oldest and worlds largest democracy)

india can gain from the largest economy and the creative wealth of the united states.

but it should also be seen that we get a fair deal

US could sell weapons with pakistan which cant be used aginst terror but against india.

INDIA CANT COMPROMISE ON ISSUES ON NATIONAL SECURITY.

US DOESNT SUPPORT INDIA FOR THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL.

as of now US has only paid lip service to the talk that it will help india to be a major world power.

though we have to open our economy more to the US companies , i think the US companies havent responded well.

i know that india cant grow without embracing capitalism and integrating with the world economy

but the truth remains that india is still a domestic economy

i dont think that the above deals help india

some say that india signed it out of RECIPROCITY.

if thats true , what are the reasons for this cause i dont see much benefit for india from all this

what is your opinion on the above points.

thank you ,

balaji
